Greene Science Center on Columbia’s Manhattanville campus, the state-of-the-art building offers an environment where the highest level of scholarly scientific research takes place on a daily basis, with the benefit of being located in the heart of New York, one of the world’s most vibrant and culturally rich cities.A lab within the Zuckerman Institute seeks an Associate Research Scientist (ARS) to facilitate research in dissecting altered hippocampal interneuron function in a mouse model for the 22q11.2 deletion syndrome. Responsibilities will be performing surgeries, 2 photon imaging in behaving mice, data analysis, and leading a small working group to establish a pipeline for multimodal in vivo and ex vivo image registration to link neuronal activity with single-cell resolution gene expression. Additional responsibilities include mentoring graduate students and undergraduate students, writing papers and attending conferences to disseminate findings, and applying for relevant funding to support future work. The ideal candidate will have expertise in visually guided behavior, strong computational skills and robust molecular biology training, as well as superior motivation, drive and demonstrated aptitude for research.
