Job Description
This position supports the Department of Pediatrics. The Research Support Specialist is responsible for providing timely and accurate research assistance to faculty in both pre-award and post-award proposal and reporting requirements. Key duties include compiling and formatting essential sponsor-required attachments such as facilities, equipment, letters of support, other support and biosketches. The specialist will complete training grant tables within sponsor forms, specifically for T32 grants, and maintain Pediatric faculty biosketches and Other Support documents for Just-In-Time (JIT) requests and Research Performance Progress Reports (RPPR). This role involves assisting Principal Investigators (PIs) with acquiring necessary approvals from the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) and Institutional Review Board (IRB) for JIT purposes, including preparing letters of attestation and congruency reviews in collaboration with the Post Award team. Entering information into sponsor portals for reporting and proposal submission. Troubleshooting faculty pre award issues with Director and Associate Director. Transitioning awarded proposals smoothly from pre award to post award.The specialist will facilitate the signing of award documents and post-submission materials, work closely with PIs to input information into RPPR, and track all grant submissions, including acceptances and rejections, within and outside the department. They will inform the Pediatric business office of these activities and prepare monthly reports on proposals submitted and awards received for the Vice Chairs and the Research Director. Additionally, the position includes arranging meetings with new faculty to discuss the pre and post-award processes, ensuring they are well-informed and supported in their research activities.Required Skills and Abilities
