The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.  Position SummaryReporting to the Associate Director, the Admissions Assistant is the principal in-person, phone and email point of contact for all inquiries and visitors to the Business School admissions office. The Admissions Assistant represents the Business School to the public and provides reception as well as informational greetings to potential applicants, business professionals and faculty, staff and students. The Admissions Assistant should expect to work in the office five days per week.The Admissions Assistant is well versed in Columbia Business School programs, and specifically understands and can discuss the expansion and variety of Business School programs and overall school admissions processes. ResponsibilitiesActs as the public face of the Admissions Office. This includes actively welcoming visitors, prospective applicants, students and alumni in a consistently courteous, enthusiastic and professional manner for our MBA, Executive MBA, MBAxMS: Engineering & Applied Science, JD/MBA, MS, PhD, Deferred Enrollment, and any future degree programs of the Business School.Responds to over 35,000 telephone and email queries annually; all of which are time sensitive and of the utmost importance in maintaining the public image of the institution. This includes general inquiries about the programs, assisting in the coordination of interviews, helping with event registration needs, etc. Collects and opens the mail daily; which includes updating applications with any information received in the mail and forwarding as appropriate.Assists prospective students in signing up for class visits, attending information sessions, and other recruitment events. This also includes reviewing the event page to make sure all relevant information is available and up-to-date. 

Responsibilities + Skills

Education

Demonstrated positive interpersonal skills and the ability to work with senior ranking faculty, administrative staff and students required; must have excellent communications skills for writing emails and for responding in a timely manner to written inquiries; must have a positive and enthusiastic attitude as well as the ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment is required. Excellent time management, organizational, written and oral communication skills are necessary. Must be computer proficient; prior experience with electronic mail required.

Experience

Minimum of two years related experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience required. Bachelors degree preferred.
