Job Description
Under the general direction of the Internal Medicine Clerkship Director, the Coordinator is to provide a high level of administrative support within the Department of Medicine for: the Internal Medicine Clerkship and Sub-Internship and to also act as Thesis Coordinator.An effective Coordinator must understand the educational objectives of national regulatory agencies (i.e., the LCME), Yale Medical School, the Department of Medicine, and the clerkship itself. They assume an active role in assuring that the clerkship is compliant with these objectives and regulatory requirements. To be effective, the Coordinator is expected to have ownership over operations and outcomes. There are also areas for personal and professional growth: work independently, take initiative to find and fix deficiencies, opportunities to attend and contribute to national conferences for clerkship leadership and administrators.
Responsibilities + Skills
Schedule weekly didactics and tract attendance/compliance.Correspond with students, faculty, directors, and othersCommunicate with all team members as necessary to monitor and ensure timely completion of deliverables.Compose substantive correspondence and written materials.
Education
Schedule StudentsSolicit and collect student materials regarding preferences for rotations.Create and maintain database for preference ranking, student accommodations, and travel.Assign and confirm placements into 20 different internal medicine rotations for students in clerkships, Subinternship, re-entry elective, PA rotation, visiting rotations.
Experience
