Laboratory Processing Assistant II - AHDC Receiving (CVM)

Job Description

The Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine seeks a Laboratory Processing Assistant II to join the Animal Health Diagnostic Center Receiving team. The Laboratory Processing Assistant II acts under the direction of the Receiving Supervisors and performs routine and detailed submission handling duties to prepare cases for testing. This individual is highly collaborative and enjoys completing tasks while using standard operating procedures (SOPs). They are extremely reliable, flexible in dealing with unpredictable workloads, and work well under pressure in a team-based environment.Position Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited ToSpecimen ReceiptReceive and open incoming client packages; evaluate specimens and request forms to ensure accuracy and compliance with test requirements, including appropriate labelingAppropriately sort specimens into established categories according to test request; handle specimens per protocol to maintain sample integrityFollow procedures for disinfection of work areas contaminated by any specimen before resuming package opening

Perform basic accessioning within LIMS to assign unique numbers to individual case submissionsAssign testing per client request, per protocol or as directedGenerate identifying labels and affix to specimens and documents per protocol
