Job Description
Cornell University embraces diversity and seeks candidates who will contribute to a climate that supports students, faculty and staff of all identities and backgrounds. We strongly encourage individuals from underrepresented and/or marginalized identities to apply. The College of Veterinary Medicine, Cornell University, seeks a self-motivated and mission-focused Technician III to support the research performed in the Leifer lab in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology.Overview of the research at the Leifer laboratory: The overall theme of our research is to understand how innate immune receptors are regulated. This is important for human health because although most innate immune receptors detect unique molecular structures present on microbes and not in the host, a few detect highly conserved structures such as nucleic acids (DNA and RNA). Transmembrane receptors that detect DNA and RNA belong to a family of innate immune receptors called Toll-like receptors (TLRs). We seek to understand the regulation and dysregulation of immune receptors involved in inflammation, infection, and autoimmunity.
