Job Description:Job SummaryPurdue University seeks an outstanding leader and veterinarian as its next Dean of Veterinary Medicine and Hospital CEO. Currently ranked 11th in U.S. News Best Veterinary Schools and with its new David and Bonnie Brunner Hospital Complex and Caesars Entertainment Equine Specialty Hospital, the primary goal of the next Dean will be to raise the quality and impact of Purdue’s research and professional training in veterinary medicine to the top rank worldwide, all while deepening “One Heath” partnerships across the state, regionally and globally. The Dean also oversees clinical staff services across Purdue’s state-of-the-art facilities and field services, which bring a host of new capabilities to over 50,000 patients in the region. Holding a leadership role of critical importance to Purdue at this juncture, the next Dean will see enormous opportunities to partner across the full spectrum of health and life sciences strengths on campus, from basic science to clinical and translational research. These areas span leading departments, centers, institutes, and programs in cancer research; inflammation, immunology, infectious diseases and antimicrobial resistance, neuroscience, musculoskeletal research; chemistry and drug discovery; pharmacy; engineering; and computer science and artificial intelligence, among many others. The broad health and life sciences constitute an emerging strategic priority at Purdue alongside Purdue Computes, Purdue’s new presence in Indianapolis, and a reinvigorated Daniels School of Business. These opportunities for stronger connections across disciplines will allow the successful candidate to build on existing strengths, and to support and develop new research engines and strong collaborative opportunities both across and beyond Purdue.
