The Department of Pediatrics at Columbia University Irving Medical Center is the top in comparison with other pediatric departments in the NY region in NIH research funding.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESA key research team member to the strategic growth of this laboratory's mission/vision, the Staff Associate I will advance medical knowledge using preclinical models and to translate it into clinically relevant strategies for replacement of placental hormones and growth factors to prevent impaired neurodevelopment in preterm or compromised fetuses and neonates. The Staff Associate will have active participation in basic and translational research projects in the Penn laboratory.Preclinical model development of placental insufficiencies, tissue preparation, immunohistochemistry, advanced imaging, transcriptomic analysis of model systems.Working with biobank to select samples for analysis using ‘omics techniques, including initial bioinformatics using R.Shared participation in laboratory management including safety compliance, equipment maintenance, supply ordering.PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

Education
